Music and Us

There are many cultures that include music to their everyday lives. After doing research, I have found many new artist from around the world.

Brazil!

This was actually the easiest to find (thank you Tik Tok)! One singer I ran by was ANITTA, a brazilin singer Her real name is Larissa de Macedo Machado and she was born on March 30th, 1993. She rose to fame because of one of her song: "Show das Poderosas". The song reached the top of the Brasil Hot 100 Airplay Charts. As I was looking through her songs, one really stood out. Here is "Envolver"! (and a lovely picture of the singer):

Next is Japan! ever since I was at the age I could remember what life was, Japanese music had always been a cool concept to me. Whether it was the strings or "flute", it was always calming and out of this world. After digging through YouTube and websites, I finally found a song that was absolutely breathtaking (in my opinion). Kyo no Warabeuta is based on many children's songs and belonged to the Ikuta school. It was made to sound traditional, hint the similar flute and string sounds. It is made to sound like the wind, free and flowing.

Russia!
Now this one I had fun with. You know those piano tile guys? The ones where they show you have to play the songs? Well, they did it with Russian music!

Now while this could be for giggles and kicks, its really neat to see how much Russian music had changed over time (and how some of the music sounds like they are inspired by the other songs). Personally my favorite is Little Big Uno, which is modern in todays time. Some of these are based off of cartoons, which is absolutely cute!! Its like us singing one of our childhood cartoons... but in English.

Last but not least, Jamaica!
Jamaican music is a mix between Europe and Africa, which Europe heavily inspired the arts in Jamaica. As we all know, Bob Marley was a huge Jamaican singer and artist. He loved to create songs that were put into the genres of: early ska, reggae, and many others. He started to blossom in the 1970s with his hit songs. One song I know is probably one of the best (in my opinion) is "Three Little Birds", which would probably be the most well-known song from him.

  2. Hi Reagan, I love the Russian piano evolution video, what a good, fun way to learn about the history of a country's music, romantic era Russian classical is one of my favorite sub-genres and seeing how other music came from that is cool. Additionally I liked the Japanese flute, its a unique timbre.

  3. Reagan! I loved the music you picked! It was really fun for me to see how much of the music was or at least felt familiar. I have been listening to a lot of Hispanic music lately, and I really enjoyed “Envolver.” I have been looking for more music so I think I will add it to my playlist!
